How to use this site
Here are some quick and easy steps to help you to use this site.
The map you see on the Grow Us A Home homepage uses 8 different colours to represent the landform features found on the Swan Coastal Plain and Darling Range. Their names can be found in the Map Legend as well as by moving the cursor across them.
To make the task of finding your local soil type a little easier click on the Suburbs button under Show Map Info then select the suburb you want by clicking on it. You may need to use the Zoom Map controls to get a bit closer or the Move Map navigation tool to view other sections of the map.
Once you have found the suburb you need click on it and you will be taken to the next layer of information about that particular landform. Have a read before moving on. Also on this screen you will see one or more white boxes. As you scroll over these a name will appear. These are the names of the soil types that can be found in your suburb. By clicking on these you will be taken to information about a particular soil type. Once again have a read before moving on.
Find the larger white box or boxes on this screen and click on one and see what happens. What did you find? Did they move? Now you can begin your research into the local plants (flora) and animals (fauna) that may be found in your local area.
Good luck….and don’t forget to look for the jokes!
